Professor will guide the audience through a personal journey, tracing from undergraduate studies in mathematics to the current role as a professor and researcher in high-performance computing (HPC). The talk will explore the decision to pursue a PhD in HPC, the path to becoming a professor, and insights into balancing a career with family commitments. The audience is invited to join in reflecting on this journey, sharing insights gained, and exploring the synergies between mathematics and machines in the realm of high-performance computing.Zhiling Lan

Bio:

Zhiling Lan received her PhD degree in Computer Engineering from Northwestern University in 2002. She is currently a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois Chicago.
